What is up with Jamaican Government Websites?

Jamaica FlagNow, I am by no means a great web developer/producer. I've been doing web development for a little close to two years now, sort of as a break from my other interests (to be discussed eventually). I have been involved in several freelance and full-time employment projects ranging from the tiniest of sites to multi-site setups for well established institutions.

With that said, I find myself qualified to criticize the gross misrepresentations I see going on with local government sites. Who are they hiring to make these sites? Somebody actually gets paid to do this? I've met so many talented local web professionals there is absolutely no reason our Government and in-turn our country should be so blatantly under served with these bad excuses they'd want to pass off as their official websites.

Starting with my next post, I will be taking a closer look at these sites and discuss the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. Do you know of an ugly government site? Perhaps one that is well done (local)? Leave a link below, perhaps I'll discuss it in a future post.
