So you got this error:

And you don't even have an .htaccess file in that location to begin with, why?

Solution

The directory containing your website needs to have execute permissions for user,group and others. chmod 755 on the directory.

Your project was working all along. A few configuration changes later you get this? Or maybe you took another route to get there. Anyhow, this error message seems to be a catch-all for several different kinds of misconfiguration errors in a .Net MVC Application. Below I list some of the more common reasons you could encounter this message and what to do to resolve it. There are other possible reasons for this to appear, a quick check of Google should yeild alternatives. Good luck, hope this helps.

MiHungry is a local raw food business started by my very close friend I-wara. In a moment of inspiration I decided to create an online app for his shop without telling him about it. 15 minutes later I had the first mock-up of it's start page and promptly announced it on twitter From Zero to Hero. I have since completed the very early mock-ups of the rest of the screens outlining the basic work-flow I envision for the site. I will now turn to building the app.

ASP.NET MVC Redirect to Unauthorized Access Page (401 Page)

Using forms authorization rules in the configuration file can be troubling in ASP.NET MVC and arguably the same for older ASP.NET web forms. Also, the Authorize Attribute that comes standard with ASP.NET MVC 2 simply redirects the user to the login page, without any warning or notice of why that happens. I wanted to change this default behaviour so I could show a custom Unauthorized Access page (401 Page) with my own messages and options. I do this by inheriting from the AuthorizeAttribute class and overriding it's HandleUnauthorizedRequest method.

PHP 5.3 toString breaks Savant3 toString with params

Just this week after upgrading my PHP version, I started getting this error when trying to use Savant 3: Fatal error: Method Savant3::__tostring() cannot take arguments in Savant3.php on line 192

PHP 5.3 no longer accepts parameters to it's magic function __toString() which conflicted with Savant's implementation which takes one parameter: $tpl.

I have been feeling a little different about my work lately. The title "programmer" doesn't feel weird anymore, and I don't get the sudden urge to correct someone when they call me that. I would often say "oh I'm not really a programmer I just like learning stuff". Well it seems all I've been learning for the last 10 years is about computers -so I give up, I am a programmer.
